About Isabel
I am a justice-oriented, queer/trans-affirming counselor serving teens and adults. I specialize in OCD and anxiety, approaching with curiosity and care. Having lived with an OCD diagnosis for most of my own life, I am honored to work from lived experience and from evidence-based ERP (exposure and response/ritual prevention) DBT (dialectical-behavioral therapy) and CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy) practices.
I believe that people are experts in their own lives and make the best decisions available to them with the resources that they have. My core commitment as a counselor is to affirm your autonomy and to be a witness as you grow and make meaning of your life. I introduce metaphor and thought experiment to teach practical skills in emotional regulation and distress tolerance. I practice mind-body techniques to identify how emotions and experiences show up in the body as well as the mind. In our work together, I hope you find rich meaning in your experiences, build connection to your community, and make changes that are significant to you.
