About Arah
My counseling style is warm, compassionate, casual and accepting. I want you to know you are seen and heard, and I am curious about what it’s like to be you in the world. I strongly believe that you are the expert on you and that, once given a little time to breathe in a safe space, you will begin to connect to important parts of yourself that will foster healing and growth. I will be your partner in this process, helping you to gain fresh insight, feel self-compassion, and see your strengths.
My counseling approach is rooted in person-centered, attachment-based therapy. I believe that an authentic, trusting relationship between counselor and client is the foundation for change, and serves as a powerful launching pad for including other therapeutic strategies and skills that best fit with your intentions, hopes and goals.
I often incorporate emotion-focused therapy and Internal Family Systems therapy into my work as increased connection to and awareness of the roots of your own emotional experience can be a powerful catalyst for change.
Ultimately, I listen to you, learn about you and from you, and draw from a range of therapeutic strategies I have experience with in order to find those that are the best fit for you in this moment.
As we walk this therapy path together, you can find the direction you want to go and discover the form you want your life to take. Some things you may be interested to know about my path: I am an Oregon native who spent many years on the East Coast. Before I became a counselor, I had careers in international economic development, business and technology. I am a cancer survivor. In my own life, I have experienced how a supportive presence can help you find your way through life challenges. I enjoy daily walks in nature and find it refreshing and grounding.
