The Roots of Conflict

When couples argue, the arguments are usually a kind of protest from one partner about not feeling connected, not trusting, or not feeling safe or secure with the other partner. When you are lost in negative cycles and patterns with each other, it may feel like the fights will never be resolved.

Leaning into Change

Couples counseling can help partners navigate relationship challenges and improve their communication, understanding, and emotional connection. Your counselor works to create a safe, neutral space for both individuals to express their feelings, address unresolved conflicts, and identify patterns of behavior that may be harming the relationship. The goal is to foster empathy, develop healthier coping strategies, and enhance the overall quality of the relationship, whether it’s dealing with trust issues, intimacy struggles, or life transitions.

WellPath Counseling & Associates has a policy of assessing for whether couples therapy is eligible for insurance coverage. Insurance plans may not cover couples counseling, but have options for conjoint or family counseling. In the event your insurance covers one of these services, insurance requires a mental health diagnosis for one member of the family. Our policy is to assess for a diagnosis during the first couples intake session. You are responsible for our out of pocket of $150 for this first session. If there is a diagnosable mental health disorder for one person, your counselor will determine how couples work best supports the diagnosis. Future sessions may be covered by your insurance plan.
